Economic development works. It can be successful. It tends to build on itself. But it must get started.
- Jeffrey D. Sachs.
The answer for all our national problems - the answer for all problems of the world - comes down to a single word. That word is "education"
- President Lyndon B. Johnson.
GOD BLESS YOU!
It is indeed extremely difficult for us to get on the Global Agenda with our ideas and to get resources behind it, because we just don't have the money to get started, and would very much love someone with God's Grace help us to:
Educate Girls and Young Women
Provide Economic Opportunities
Forster the Emotional and Social development of Children.
Good intentions are never enough. Nothing in the world will ever change until an organization gets a critical mass of the right people to commit to that change. We need your generous contribution TODAY!
When you see so many people suffering, as we at International Village Development in villages that we have visited particularly in Africa, it starts to penetrate your heart and soul and you realize you have to do something to help people who cannot help themselves.
All parents are aware of the great expenses involved in rearing, housing, educating and clothing their children. Imagine the burden that we, at International Village Development, carry on our shoulders, with hundreds of children, young women to care for. Our expenses are truly astronomical!. And so we turn to you, our dear friends and supporters,
Fighting Poverty The role of Women
Women suffer disproportionately from Poverty and Hunger, but they also contribute disproportionately to reducing it. Women also grow a large share of the world's food for domestic consumption, and when they have income, tend to spend it more of it on food for the household than men do.
Yet conditions often conspire against them. When women spend long hours on producing cash crops, they have less time to produce food for the household, provide child care and collect clean water and fuel. Because cash crop production is generally considered to be male domain, women rarely have any say over how to spend the income their crops provide. Nor are they permitted to decide how much of their food crops is sold and how much kept for the household.
Migration and war have compounded the problem in war torn developing countries and have compounded the problem, contributing to the "feminization of poverty" While the number of female-headed rural households rise, women are still denied the land, credit, technology, extension and training and other resources and services they need to feed their families. And yet women could prove to be a large part of the poverty solutions world wide.
FACTS Sub-Sahara Africa has the highest proportion of chronically undernourished people: 43percent of the population. Please join Us to defeat poverty and hunger as we see it.
